Disaster relief following Hurricane Helene
Our thoughts and prayers are with those in western North Carolina impacted by the path of Hurricane Helene. There are more than 20 hospitals affected and thousands of people left devastated by the storm.
Within 24 hours of the storm, ECU Health and Eastern Healthcare Preparedness (EHPC) team members “pre-deployed” to the area carrying supplies, an ambulance bus and experts to help. The ECU Health team was among the first to arrive in the region in the early hours after the storm moved through. Since then, ECU Health has been providing critical support to hospitals and communities impacted by Hurricane Helene. Learn more about the ongoing efforts here.
East Carolina University is also assisting with hurricane relief efforts. Students, alumni, faculty and staff of the ECU Medical & Health Sciences have been heavily involved in delivering supplies and helping with medical needs in western North Carolina. You can learn more about their efforts here.
